Welcome
The Whitworth Historical
Society & Heritage
Museum
The Whitworth Historical Society is located at the
Whitworth Heritage Museum on North Street,
Whitworth, which is in the borough of Rossendale in
East Lancashire. Our opening hours are usually from
11am to 4pm on Saturdays only except by special
arrangement - please note that the museum
officially re-opened again on Saturday 15th of May,
following our recent temporary closure due to work
taking place on the outside of the building. See our
News page for more details of the current situation.
The society also operates a very popular
programme of monthly lectures, and these are
usually held on the first Wednesday of each month
between the months of September and June. For
the 2023-24 season they will again be held at the
Hallfold URC on Hall Street to allow for greater
social distancing, so please do be sure to check our
‘Lectures’ or ‘News’ pages for any updates or
changes before travelling .
We are always happy to hear from anyone with any
artifacts or photographs relating to Whitworth,
which we might be able to add to our collection or
make copies of, but due to lack of storage space we
can't usually take items that don't have any sort of
link with the area. If you have anything you might
like to donate or loan please do get in touch with us,
we'd love to hear from you. You can find out how to
contact us via our 'contact' page.
