Welcome to the website of the Whitworth Historical Society. The society is located at the Whitworth Museum on North Street, Whitworth, which is in the borough of Rossendale in East Lancashire. The museum is open to the public from 2 to 4pm on Saturdays, and 7.30 to 9.30pm on Tuesdays, and at other times by prior arrangement. The society also has a very popular programme of monthly lectures, and these are held on the first Wednesday of each month between the months of September and June. Visitors are welcome to come along and view our comprehensive archives, and see our collection of items and photographs relating to the history of the Whitworth area, and people researching their family history are also welcome to come along and see if we can help. We're always happy to hear from anyone with any artifacts or photographs relating to the area which, we might be able to add to our collection, or loan and copy.
