Welcome to the website of the Whitworth Historical Society. The society is located at the Whitworth Heritage Museum on North Street, Whitworth, which is in the borough of Rossendale in East Lancashire. The museum is open to the public from 2.00 to 4.00pm on Saturdays, and 7.30 to 9.30pm on Tuesdays, and at other times by prior arrangement. The society also has a very popular programme of monthly lectures, and these are held on the first Wednesday of each month between the months of September and June. Visitors are welcome to come along and view our comprehensive archives, and see our collection of items and photographs relating to the history of the Whitworth area, and people researching their family history are also welcome to come along and see if we can help.

We are always happy to hear from anyone with any artifacts or photographs relating to Whitworth, which we might be able to add to our collection or make copies of, but due to lack of storage space we can't usually take items that don't have any sort of link with the area. If you have anything you might like to donate or loan please do get in touch with us, we'd love to hear from you. You can find out how to contact us via our 'contact us' page.
