We also have a museum shop, where you can buy a number of interesting
publications and souvenirs, covering both local history and other topics.
Amongst the current range of popular titles and best sellers is Mike Rothwell's
excellent 'Whitworth's Industrial Heritage', which is now back in stock again. This is
an A4 sized publication, covering many of the valley's former factories, mines and
quarries. This publication is available from the shop whenever the museum is
open, along with another similar publication by Mike covering the 'Industrial
Heritage of Bacup & Stacksteads', and also our newly reprinted copies of 'Cowm
The Valley That Died' by Joan Douglas, 'Whitworth Doctors' by Patricia Chisnall.
Also, 'The Bacup Branch' by Tom Wray, 'Hallfold Congregational Chapel' by R.C.
Scott B.A., and the newly reprinted 'Healey Dell' by Philip Blackshaw. All can be
